#11 IELTS Writing Task 2 "Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime"
Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Fixing the punishment for every sort of wrongdoings is a controversial issue for many decades. There is a bundle of arguments which are supporting both of points.
First of all, firming the trail for each sort of crime must have some hampering effects in a society. Individual know if he does any sort of crime, he will be penalized with a fixed punishment. For example, if a fine is fixed for every criminal from a jury, without any jail punishment, the maximum bad rich people will convict crimes on daily basis and make themselves clean from crime by giving that fixed fine. This punishment method may help the economy but this will also lead to social instability and violate the society as a whole.
Debatable Topic, Who is Great???
On the other hand, if there will be different proper laws for a different type of crimes, this will be good for managing law and order situation in society. For example, if there is a fixed punishment of hand-cutting for thieves, like Sadia Arabia, people from each community, poor or rich, will not try to undertake such crimes which are resulting into loss of their hands and be handicapped for entire life. But if the society is under famine conditions than this law does not give permission to make the thieves hand-less. Hence, if a person kills someone, he is required an ideal punishment that surely would be the death penalty, but in self-defense. This thing will absolutely remain helpful to keep the society safe and peaceful.
What is IELTS Speaking???
To sum up, I strongly recommended that while judging the punishment for any criminal, the aspect of crime and punishment should be kept into consideration. Not any wrongdoer deserve the death penalty or fine. The occurrence and trail of each sort of crime are always contrasting.
